Purpose designed and built Test Equipment is usually necessary for most card or product designs.

This can comprise of a simple breakout lead or box to a fully automated self testing system.

The complexity required, which is largely dependant upon volume sizes, can be assessed so that the development cost of Test Equipment has pay back in “time savings” for a given quantity of products.

In many cases the Test Equipment has been designed with upgrade paths in mind. So Test Equipment requiring manual operation can be developed to give payback over a relatively small quantity of products, with further development to automate the Test Equipment giving payback over a larger quantity.
